WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item upgrader mod by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item upgrading used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with the help of The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item level upgrade upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even if they belong to another set of gear.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade item for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
